We collect the following types of information when you use TrailScout:

Account information: Your email address and display name when you create an account.

Location data: GPS coordinates collected only when you explicitly start a tracking session or record a trail. Location is never collected passively or without your action.

Session data: Statistics such as distance, duration, speed, and calorie estimates linked to your account.

Contact form submissions: Your name, email, and message if you reach out to our support team.

We use the information we collect to:

- Provide and operate the TrailScout app and website - Sync your session history and trail data across devices - Send important account or security notifications - Respond to support requests - Process subscription payments

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your location data for advertising.

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Passwords are never stored in plain text.

While we take security seriously, no system is completely immune to breaches. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

TrailScout uses third-party services that may process your data as part of delivering the app:

- Payment processing: Subscription payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. - Weather & map data: Location coordinates (not your identity) are sent to weather and mapping services to display trail conditions and maps. - AI assistant: Messages you send to the AI assistant are processed by third-party AI providers. Do not include sensitive personal information in AI chats.

Location data is only collected while you actively use the tracking or trail-recording features:

- Tracking begins only when you press "Start Tracking" or "Record Route" - Tracking stops when you press "Stop" or disable the feature - A clear indicator is shown on iOS when location is being accessed - You can revoke location permissions at any time in your device settings

Your saved GPS routes remain private to your account unless you explicitly choose to share them.

You may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you - Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data - Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data - Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account:

- Account credentials are removed immediately - Session and trail data is deleted within 30 days - Support correspondence may be retained for up to 2 years for legal compliance

Anonymised, aggregated statistics not linked to your identity may be retained indefinitely.

TrailScout is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at lincolncommercialsolutions@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the email address on your account or a prominent notice in the app. Continued use of TrailScout after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
